Description

The experiment consists of selecting a random sample of size n from a specified distribution. The sample mean and standard deviation are recorded in the data table on each update. The sample size n can be varied with a scroll bar. The sampling distribution can be selected from the list box; the options are

For each distribution, the appropriate parameters can be varied with scroll bars. The distribution probability density function and moments are shown in blue in the distribution graph for X and the are recorded in the distribution table for X .On each update, the empirical density function and moments are shown in red the first graph and are recorded in the distribution table for X . The sample values are recorded in the sample table. The probability density function and moments of the sample mean M are shown in blue in the distribution graph for M and are recorded in distribution table for M . On each update, the empirical density function and moments are shown in red in the distribution graph for M and are recorded in the distribution table for M .
