Dr. Karen A. Ames


Karen Ames received the B.S. degree in mathematics from Stanford University in 1975 and the Ph.D. degree in applied mathematics from Cornell University in 1980. She joined the faculty of the UAH Department of Mathematical Sciences in 1990, rising to the rank of full professor in 2002.

Dr. Ames died on September 28, 2006. Shortly after her death, the Dr. Karen Ames Fellowship for Women in Mathematics and the Dr. Karen Ames Lecture Series on Applied Mathematics were formed. Persons wishing to contribute to either of these funds may do so by contacting
